To be honest, I found my whole experience with Scribus disappointing. As is commonly the case with new users of any software, I did not know the right terminology to search for. Then I was told that I should have looked up the help files, which I had done, of course, but didn't find what I needed. And fyi - contrary to most chatroom etiquette, where you're supposed to quietly watch the discussion and wait for a place to politely introduce yourself - a)there was no discussion to watch, and b)introducing yourself is apparently the wrong thing to do. Also, for some reason which I could not figure out, I was not allowed to see any discussion except for my own. I finally had to search out software to use to access their IRC channel (which I think is freenode, although I was pretty much lost throughout the process). This should create a PDF file that is compatible with PDF/x-1a:2001 and can be used for LSI.Īs far as I know, there is no English language forum for Scribus. Click the arrow next to Compatibility under Files Option, and select PDF1.3 (Acrobat 1.4), the then click Save. I think the following should work for using Scribus to create a PDF file that is compatible with PDF/x-1a:2001 directly:įile > Export > Save PDF, A pop-up window appears. The worst thing that can happen is that I have to pay another re-submittal fees. If not, I'll go ahead and submit one more time after I create the PDF file via the following steps. Apparently, PDF1.4 (Acrobat 1.5) is NOT PDF/x-1a:2001 compatible, and LSI seems to be very strict about color interior books and the files have to be PDF/x-1a:2001 compatibleĭoes PDF1.3 (Acrobat 1.4)= PDF/x-1a:2001 compatible? Can anyone confirm this? I always use the Scribus default PDF1.4 (Acrobat 1.5) format when I did the previous book covers, and I did not really paid attention to the PDF formats since they have ALL been accepted by LSU. The reason is the file is not PDF/x-1a:2001 compatible. However, when I submit my book cover for a book with COLOR interior, it was rejected by LSI. I have used Scribus created 5 book covers for books with b/w interior, and they have ALL been accepted by LSI without any problems. I know many people have use InDesiogn, CS and so on to create a book cover that is PDF/x-1a:2001 compatible, but I am more interested in Scribus since it is 100% FREE. PDF1.3 (Acrobat 1.4)= PDF/x-1a:2001 compatible? Use Scribus to create a PDF file that is compatible with PDF/x-1a:2001 directly? I cannot find any English Forum on Scribus also.
